So today I wanted to introduce the new and ready tested Swedish Search 3.0. We have have had several players testing and all have come to the same conclusion; it is a fun and competitive game. But of course, we need more feedback.
Finally a game! Tomorrow I will be going 3 hours by car to get a game in with Jens. As he is always proactive he has already set the table. Take a look. Also we are going to a first test of Swedish Search 3.0 at the same time. Yay!
So Hawk are still trying – of course. Again I understand the issues they have but it doesn’t make it any easier not to complain. Still now I will get a game next week and other people will want to hold the Swedish champ as well as another tournament coming in february means I will get some games in. that is the first rule of keeping up with the game. Get playing.
Now we have some new releases and FAQ:s. I thought to go through them as some of them changes things up quite a bit. I thought to try to stop wining and instead give som good honest feedback.
I love the concept of fast movers in Dropzone Commander. I was first introduced to the game back in 2014 and the combined arms approach caught my interest. In most aspects I believe DzC succeed in presenting a place for infantry, armour and transports to shine in their own right. Unfortunately, I find the aspect of suggested air forces, except for gunships, to be lacking when transferring into play. This is apparent in tournament play where fast movers seem to be a rare sight excluding a few exceptions in the forms of the UCM Archangel, the Allied Resistance Pathfinder Archangel and the PHR Athena. I understand the arguments put forward by prominent tournament players regarding the reliability of fast movers and the subject have been discussed for hours and meters of text in forums. I think it is safe to say that fast movers in general in a competitive setting is a subpar unit. Happily this is not the case when it comes to non-tournament play where winning is not everything. Therefore this post do not bother with perceived balance and tournament play. This post is for all of us that want to use and see more fast movers in casual and campaign play. I also want to give credit where credit is due as I was inspired by a discussion on the Hawk Forums about Fast Mover Mission Objectives started by Novus and Orbital Bombardment Podcast Episode 18: Emotional Gunship discussion on ideas for a Dropzone Commander 2.0. Check these discussions out for other and further ways to play with fast movers.
As you can see I do not have the same amount of time to blog now. With a new job, a nine monther at home and a house needing to be fixed I find myself being forced to sacrifice the blog a little bit. I’m hoping to get some time in the future. I ask for your all understanding. I haven’t stopped – but it is slower right now.
Today I just wanted to mention that I have scrapped my gaming table I build some time ago. I thought to give you the reasons to why so you can escape the same problems when you build a table.
After invasion I have thought a bit more on the games I had and what other described. I came to several things In would like to see as changes in DZC just to mix it up a bit. So I made a list.
I think that something from the Hawk Wargames production that haven’t got the right attention is the Civilian Vehicle pack. It’s just a amazing pack with tiny cars that function as the Technicals for the Resistance and trucks and buses. They are so different and fun to paint! In this blog post me and the Swedish DzC Blog friend Jonas Eng have a go with them! I let Jonas go first…
Or… HOW I WON!!!!!
Ahem. That was my brag-part. No-one really cares about it but me but it was a great feeling and I was really excited. Stefan did his best Invasion yet and Björn also was at top 15. Daniel did really good and Mattias had bit harder time but the Swiss system got him some good games in the end.
This is my poorly spelled report from Invasion.
So while I’m still in a daze I have compiled some pictures and clips from the days. I hope to have battle reports for you soon but it might be after the weekend.
