Another 1500pts tournament!

So this weekend we are going for another little 1500pts tournament. Only 6 players but that means all will get 5 games in and as we are a small pool of players in Sweden it really doesn’t matter that the swiss system is not.

I will take notes of the results and continue my little data collection of KP from the winner and the looser from each game to see which missions awards what kind of points. The intent is to build up some data for tournament organizers round the world to make solid choices on what kind of missions they want to have and when in the swiss. But until then I thought to give you the missions and my list I intend to play with.

You can see all lists here as well. Sad thing not to have any UCM players but we will survive. At 6 players it is logical that one of the 5 factions is missing.

The missions are (in order):

  1. Swedish recon: As recon but with objectives instead of focal points. Also the marker basically always stays for the opponent to pick it up and the bomb does D2 automatic damage.
  2. Take and extract: but the buildings are in a + formation (so each player only have one building in their zone). I think it is a greater mission than the Hawk-version of Take and Extract.
  3. Swedish Ground control: Players score in both turn 3 and 6.
  4. Swedish Search. I do love this mission and it was popular at the swedish champ as well. The objectives are harder to get off and the buildings are armour 8.
  5. Swedish hold the flanks. Middle building and the corner buildings are bunkers. All other buildings are armour 8. You can man wallls and shoot out from bunkers.

It is a good mix of Intel (1 mission), searching buildings for objectives (2 missions), focal points or hold ground (3 missions in some version), Possible objectives (1 mission) and objectives you can take off table (4 missions). Also 4/5 missions decrease the walk on demo somewhat as well. Recon demo is good in, Take and extract have armour 8, Swedish ground control demo is kind of weak, Swedish search have armour 8, Hold the flanks have bunkers. So a walk on demo army will have it harder.

At the same time there is no mission where it is pointless. Take and extract and Hold the flanks have both buildings with enemy objectives to destroy. In Search enemy infantry tend to always be in buildings a lot of the time as well and in Ground control infantry in buildings are worth double so there is a point there as well.

For my list I will test the new stuff out.

Standard Roster [1498/1500 pts]

  • Oppressors [260 pts]
    • Desolator: Desolator(Overlord) [260 pts]
  • Vanguard [304 pts]
    • Hunter Squad: 3x Hunter, Marauder [146 pts]
    • Reaper Squad: 3x Reaper, Marauder [158 pts]
  • Warriors [298 pts]
    • Screamers: Screamer, Raider [110 pts]
    • Warrior Horde: 2x Warriors, Intruder Alpha [94 pts]
    • Warrior Horde: 2x Warriors, Intruder Alpha [94 pts]
  • Warriors [304 pts]
    • Warrior Horde: 2x Warriors, Intruder Alpha [94 pts]
    • Ravagers: 3x Ravager, Harbinger(+Mini Arc Caster, +2 Vampires) [210 pts]
  • Occupation Patrol [276 pts]
    • Monitors: 4x Monitor, Intruder Beta [56 pts]
    • Corruptors: Corruptor [80 pts]
    • Destroyers: 2x Destroyers, Intruder Alpha [140 pts]
  • Occupation Patrol [56 pts]
    • Monitors: 4x Monitor, Intruder Beta [56 pts]

I had to make severe choices to get the new stuff in and I have only tested the army once. I don’t really have a great “killing activation) this time around but that is because the Screamer and the Corruptor are both in the Support slots so it gets harder to have dead activations and bigger activations otherwise.

After my test game I came to the following conclusion and we will see if it holds out:

The Desolator works great as a dead activation as you take little risk placing it on table early.
The Hunters need to really be 6 to be effective…
The Reapers in a Marauder is the game’s best 3 unit double tap unit, I think.
I have 4 squads of Infantry but it should really be more – I missed my 6 man Warrior battlegroup.
Ravagers are still in the game. It is nice to use their CC attacks as well and they can hold focal points more reliable than the rest of the ground units.
The Screamer impressed me much. The transport was kind of so-so. It is a deterrent. But the bloody screamer was really impressive. By halving the CQB value of all enemy infantry inside a building it really rocked.
The Corruptor missed 2/3 worms in my test. That cost me in turn 2 another search roll and in turn 3 stopping my opponent from getting of with a objective.
The Monitors…well they killed infantry and then Armour 6 stuff on long range (against the resistance – they are really good) and then blew themselves up a bit. Most likely the best unit in the army. But we will see how they perform against other players as well.

Pics will of course come in the AAR. Let me know what you think of my army list.

  1. Looks like a great list actually. Should work really well. I am really liking Ravagers a lot more now. They really have a place.

If you want I can send you my data for Critical Engagement. It will have all the kill points and victory points for and against, should be 22 or 24 players too.

    Hope it goes well
